The OR team is not an easily starstruck duo, but when some of the biggest names in entertainment drop dough on a homestead and start tending to livestock, raising fowl, and using the hashtag #farmlife, it’s hard to resist a bit of online “stargazing”: Jennifer Garner harvesting honey from her beehives; Nicole Kidman hanging out with her Black Angus; Kaley Cuoco receiving nuzzles from her rescued mini, Shmooshy; Russell Crow repairing fences and cutting brush; and Dennis Quaid sporting dad jeans and a John Deere hat on his Montana ranch. While all of these scenarios surely make us feel right at home, the high price tags of their Architectural Digest-worthy backdrops do not. But hey, two gals can dream.
And dream we do.
At OR we keep one eye on our tribe, and the other on the real estate market. We’re always prepared for potential farm fire sales, lucrative flips, or long term investments (aka: retirement). A few weeks back we took our farm fetishes a step further, and began including them in our weekly dispatch (If you haven’t signed up, what are you waiting for?). Generally we try to pick practical properties that are within reach. However, more than occasionally we discover a “farm” worthy of a tour by Robin Leach, with over-the-top features such as chandeliers above the barn’s center aisle, a heated indoor riding arena, a 15-car garage, and a Trevi-inspired fountain in the motor court. Most of these things we can do without, but we felt the urge to share them should one be in the market for acreage with a 13,000 sq ft. guest house, a walk-in gun vault, or an indoor archery range. Two California-bred ranch hands included…
